Oh, and last night Alan and I watched this week's Rome. WTF?! Not where we thought things were going that's for sure.

I'm somewhat troubled by the fact that all the female characters are manipulative schemers on some level or another.

Also, sometimes it feels very male.

But I still like the show and we're watching it.

Good point, although in some cases they've been forced into it by cirumstances and other people. They all seem so vulnerable to changing politics and although it seems some of them have a lot of freedom compared to other societies, they have very little influence.

I didn't know you guys were watching Rome!

The male characters are the most fascinating to me. Brutus' tortured flip-flopping of politics, his relationship with his mother. And Octavian! The kid is incredible, both the actor, and the character.

And, of course, there's Vorenus and Pullo. I don't want to spoil anything if you haven't seen the most recent episode ("Triumph"), but Pullo makes one mistake too many and Vorenus' character continues to add stranger shades of grey.

Another wonderful HBO series!
